Based on the classic tabletop RPG The Dark Eye comes a new browser-based free to play MMO RPG: Herokon Online. Set in a fantasy realm known as Aventuria, heroes arise blessed by magic and divine intervention and head out on an epic journeys to seek out their fortune and become legends like the stories of old. The game encourages group based gameplay with hundreds of quests available and dozens of dangerous dungeons to delve into for treasure and adventure!

There are three different fantasy races that players can choose from, though there are more available in the game that fill out the vast world of Aventuria that players will meet in their journey. The playable classes are the Middenrealmian Humans, widespread race made up of dozens of empires, faiths and cultures they are a diverse and well spread people. The elves of the forests are secluded and secretive in their ways, they are equally well spread settling in the dales, northern woods and even icy wastes of the North, they are naturally magical race. The dwarves seek profit and fortune above all else, mastering their craft be that creating the finest armours, wielding a pickaxe or battleaxe they seek excellence in all they do and coin where they can gain it.

Each race has four professions unique to it, the humans can play as Warriors, Rogues, Mages and Healers, the Elves play as Fighters, Rangers, Keepers and Spellweavers, and the Dwarves as Mercenaries, Bounty Hunters, Physicians and Geodes. Each race covers four typical classes: a melee combatant, healer, magic user and long ranged fighter, giving a mix of classes for a group to ensure they can tackle any challenge. As well as the available classes players are able to personalise their hero with a variety of talents, spells and special abilities that can further customise their character to their preferred style of play.

Grouping together is one of the key elements, Herokon Online encourages players to group together and make new friends, utilising a number of tools that can help players keep track of each other, using in game male or direct contacts through Twitter and Facebook as well as a built-in chat system to find companions. Some of the most profitable and challenging aspects of the game require a group to defeat them, working together players can explore higher level areas and take on more dangerous dungeons to gain better treasure and more XP.

Herokon Online is free to play with a purchasable premium currency in the form of Platinum. Platinum can be bought with real-world money through the Platinum Shop and used to buy hard to acquire in game items, such items typically cost a lot of in game money and will take a while to acquire, but everything that can be bought with Platinum can also be attained through normal free gameplay.
